If we haven’t answered your question, please drop us an email – we are happy to help in any way we can.

We provide SPF50+ sunscreen and some umbrellas for inclement weather. Unless specified, venues do not allow you to bring your own food or beverages (other than water) on to their premises. Please note that any valuables that you bring on tour with you are your responsibility.
We do carry bottled water on board, however packaged water isn't particularly environmentally friendly (although we do recycle the empty bottles). So we do encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle with you if you have one.
Yes - all tours go ahead rain, hail or shine! Our vehicles are air-conditioned (as are most venues in Perth) and we provide some umbrellas for rain or sun, plus SPF50+ sunscreen if you need it. You are welcome to bring an umbrella or jacket if needed, and please dress light if the weather is looking warm.
No level of fitness is required. Some tours may have small amounts of leisurely walking but this will not be strenuous activity. If you have any mobility issues, or problems with walking or stairs, please include this in your booking notes. You can also visit our Accessible information page, or email us at hello@upcloseandlocaltours.com.au to check tour suitability.
Our private tours can cater to almost any dietary need if this information is provided to us at the time of booking.
Being a private tour, we can adjust venues if necessary to offer you the most suitable food choices. If you simply have a dietary preference rather than a strict requirement or allergy (ie you dislike a particular food but are not allergic to it) you can let us know this in the ‘Booking Notes’ section of the booking form. We can't guarantee that we can accommodate any dietary requests that are made on the day.
IMPORTANT: If you have any allergies or medical conditions(even if it's not food-related) please add it to the booking notes. It's important that we know these things in case of an emegergency - for example a bee allergy, diabetes, or anaphylaxis.
Our aim is to showcase the best of what Perth offers, and we will only take you to places that we would (and do) go to ourselves. We spend a lot of time researching and selecting the places to be included on our tours, and working with these businesses to create personalised experiences. We have a quality over quantity approach, and our small group private tours means that we get access to venues that can't - or won't - accommodate big tour buses.
Our cancellation policy is part of our Terms and Conditions, these can be viewed here.
No, we do not sell gift vouchers. If you wish to give a tour as a gift, please contact us and we can arrange for a pre-paid tour for your gift recipient/s. If you have an existing gift voucher that is still valid, please see information here about how to use it.
There is no set time when you should book, but we do recommend the earlier the better if your dates are not flexible. We are a small business so our availability is limited, and popular periods can be fully booked months in advance. We do take bookings for dates that are not yet released online, so if you already know what date/s you want to do a tour we encourage you to book online or send us an email at hello@upcloseandlocal.com.au if the date is not yet showing.
Our website shows real-time availability, so when you make a booking online you will receive an instant email confirmation. If you choose to pay only the deposit portion of the tour, you will receive an email request 15 days from the tour date with a request for the balance payment. This process is automated, so if you wish to pay your balance earlier, please just send us an email.
2-3 days prior to the tour date we will send you an email with the confirmed pick-up time for your tour. If you haven’t received this information, please contact us in case the details on your booking are incorrect, or the email is not going through (note: please check your spam folder).
If the date you are wanting is showing as unavailable, please send us an email to hello@upcloseandlocal.com.au and we can double check availability or waitlist you for that date. Occasionally we do get cancellations, or in some cases we may block a date from showing online if there is a special event on.
If you are not comfortable making an online booking, or don't have access to a device to make a booking, yes we can do it for you. Please email us at hello@upcloseandlocal.com.au or phone / SMS on +61 423 454 795.
A private tour is a tour that is exclusive for your group. You will have a private local tour guide to look after you, and private transport throughout the day. A private tour enables you to go at your own pace, and not be rushing or waiting for others. It gives you a more authentic experience, and on some tours you will receive skip-the-line access, and/or personalised service that larger groups don't receive.
We offer customisation options for most tours which can be selected during the booking process - this helps us make sure that the tour is perfectly personalised to suit you.
There is no minimum number of people for a private tour - we host many private tours for just one or two people. The maximum for our private one-day tours is 6 guests in total, for overnight Margaret River tours the maximum is 4 people to allow for luggage space. If you are travelling with carry-on bags only, and wish to book overnight tours for more than 4 people, please contact us to discuss options.
We offer door-to-door pick up at your Perth CBD hotel or accommodation. This includes Crown Perth hotels or accommodation that is located within 5km of the Perth CBD.
For Fremantle accommodation, you will need to select the Fremantle pick up option when booking which has a small surcharge to cover the additional time/distance.
Please ensure that you have noted your accommodation name and address in your booking notes for us.
Children of all ages are welcome on private tours, noting that under West Australian law, younger children are required to be seated in an Australian-approved car seat appropriate to their age.
When booking, if you have children in the group please ensure their ages are indicated accurately so that we can arrange for child seats to be supplied and fitted prior to your pick up (there is no additional cost for this).
Yes - we do! Our Margaret River tours depart from, and return to Perth.
You can take a look at our Margaret River tours here which have customisation options during the booking process. For longer tours, or one-way Margaret River tours, please contact us at hello@upcloseandlocaltours.com.au to check if your dates can be accommodated.
The cost of a private will depend on the number of people, where we are going, and which itinerary you select. We include all of your tastings, entry fees and most meals in the tour cost, so every private tour is a little bit different. To see the costs for each of tour click on the 'Book Now' button on the tour page and select the total number of people in your group.
Our private tours allow you to have a tailored tour experience, at your own pace so you can spend the most time at the places you enjoy.
When booking a private tour you will have options to customise the tour, and the ability to provide information about the travellers and their individual needs so that we can tailor the day to suit you. If you cannot find a tour that suits your needs, please contact us at hello@upcloseandlocaltours.com.au and we can plan an itinerary that is further customised.
Please note that we are not a taxi/on demand service and all tours must be pre-planned and pre-booked.
Yes - we have many tour options that are suitable for people who do not consume alcohol. Take a look at our Private Perth tours here and our Taste of Margaret River tour here, when booking please make a note that you do not want any alcohol in the tour.
If this information is provided to us at the time of booking, we can adjust most tours to suit people who have a limited ability to walk distances or those who need to avoid stairs. If you are bringing walking aids, please include this information in your booking notes to ensure we have adequate space for them.
Please read our Accessible information page prior to booking, or contact us at hello@upcloseandlocaltours.com.au to check that your requirements can be met.
Our vehicles are not fitted with ramps or a lift to enter the vehicle. We have been able to accommodate wheelchairs if they can be folded down for storage, and guests are able to get in and out of a van with little or no assistance. Guests also need to be able sit in a regular car seat (with a seatbelt) whilst travelling.
If you have any accessibility requirements please read our Accessible information page prior to booking, or contact us at hello@upcloseandlocaltours.com.au to check tour suitability.
On our shared tours space is limited for carry-on items, so this will only be able to be accommodated by prior arrangement and will depend on how full the tour is. We also need to factor in that people may make purchases while out on the tour. You can also check if your hotel can store your bags, most Perth hotels do offer a luggage storage service free of charge for guests after check-out or before check-in.
Each tour page states exactly what is included for that particular tour. On every tour, your entry fees and/or tasting fees are included in the tour price.
All full-day tours include lunch, with the exception of our Swan Valley Premium Wine Tour and Margaret River Wine & Dine Tour which has a range of lunch options that can be added, or you can choose to pay for lunch on the day. Our half day tours include a snack, with the option to add on lunch.
For all tours there is of course opportunities to purchase drinks with lunch, a coffee or sweet treat along the way, and some goodies to take home.
