Up Close & Local
Accessibility Information

We strive to create an environment that is inclusive and welcoming for guests of varying abilities.

However as the nature of each tour can vary, if you or anyone you are travelling with, has accessibility requirements it is important to note the below information.

We understand that everyone's needs are unique, and what suits one person may not suit another - this summary is a general guide only to assist you in making an informed decision. For people who have a higher need for support, a private tour will often be a more appropriate choice so that we can ensure that the tour is tailored to specifically suit the needs of every guest in your group, we can travel at a relaxed and suitable pace, and we can provide you with the best possible experience throughout the day.

To discuss any specific requirements you may have, please contact us directly by phone +61 423 454 795 or send an email.

Limited Mobility

  • Our vehicles are not fitted with wheelchair lifts or ramps.
  • Wheelchairs that can be folded for transportation may be able to be accommodated with advance notice, however guests need to be able to enter/exit the vehicle with little or no assistance. Please check with us first before booking online to ensure there will be space for your mobility aids.
  • If anyone in your booking has limited mobility (including issues with walking or stairs), we ask that you please include this information in the booking notes section of the online booking form, or email us prior to the tour. This will enable us to best cater to the needs of all guests on the day.
  • All venues that we visit have accessible entrances and toilets.
  • We cannot accommodate prams/children on our 'by the seat' public tours. We can tailor private tours to suit family groups, which allow for prams and child seats appropriate to the child's age.

Low Vision or Hearing

  • All information is delivered live, in person, in plain English. We can tailor language, speed, volume to suit the needs of each group/person.
  • As we only host small group tours, we do not use microphones or electronic equipment to deliver information.
  • Some wineries will provide written tasting notes, or QR codes to read information online.
  • If anyone in your booking has vision or hearing impairments, we ask that you please include this information in the booking notes section of the online booking form, or email us prior to the tour. This will enable us to best cater to the needs of all guests on the day.

Dietary Requirements

  • Most food intolerances and allergies can be accommodated on our wine-based tours and private tours if we are provided with advance notice.
  • Our food tours are based around themes and stories, with dishes that are selected specifically for that tour. We can't always offer a swap or alternative, but we will ensure that people with dietary requirements are made aware of ingredients that may be an issue for them to consume.
  • The venues we visit may not be exclusively nut-free or gluten free kitchens.
  • Please make note of any food allergies and/or dietary requirements at the time of booking, and if these are unable to be met we will contact you prior to the tour to discuss options.
  • If you have strict cultural dietary requirements, we recommend checking with us prior to booking. Our ability to cater to this may vary depending on your choice of tour.

Sensory Sensitivities and Hidden Disabilities

  • Some tours may not be suitable due to environments with noise or lighting that would affect people with sensory sensitivities. Please contact us to discuss prior to making a booking.
  • People with non-visible disabilities such as chronic health conditions, diabetes, epilepsy, chronic pain and respiratory conditions are encouraged to include this information in the booking notes section of the online booking form, or email us prior to the tour. This will not only enable us to best cater to your needs on the day, but also to provide support should we encounter an emergency situation.

If you, or anyone in your group has accessibility needs, we encourage you to please contact us to discuss the suitability of each tour.

To support you in making informed travel decisions to suit your individual needs, the following Accessibility Report has been prepared for Up Close and Local Tours by the Australian Tourism Industry Council (ATIC);
